This piece of conceptual art was created for the sci-fi horror film CIRCLE. In the film there are fifty strangers who have been abducted having no recollection as to how they had been captured and are forced to vote to who dies every four minute. (SPOILER ALERT) While the audience only ever see anything outside of the room in which the captives are being held that when designing the ship it was crucial for it to have an impactful look on screen. In the early stages of designing the ship the director of the film, Mario Miscione, drew inspiration of the Apple headquarters building and felt the ships overall design should be geometric based as possible. Especially given the title of the film itself. Upon the visual direction of ship provided by the direction the task then came to take a simple ring shape and make it look as 'alien' as possible. In addition to incorporating such particular look, and feeling, to the ship itself It was all very important to include as much visual elements from the chamber itself into the ships very design. As such, I thought to not only include the red arrows into the design but to also include a black sphere within the center as well as a better menas to visually relate both the very room itself and the ship together. In addition to incorporating particular visual key elements into the design of the ship I thought it would also be interesting for there to massive components in which rotate in opposite direction from one another as a means to not only convey kinetic movement but to also illustrate a senses that the Aliens were very much advanced in there technology.
